Successful Event Planning and Managing for VOsRegistration

A Course Organised by L-Għanja tal-Poplu

Join this brand-new course on successful event planning and management that was created especially for members of VOs.

The course is created and instructed by freelance Maltese artistic director, event producer, and manager Annalisa Schembri, who has 16 years of industry experience.

Volunteers who want to learn event planning and management should take this course. This course is not meant for skilled event planners.

The course will be delivered in person, in 3 parts and all the 3 sessions are compulsory for the successful completion of the course from attendees.

The course is free of charge and the number of places is limited. The number of attendees from the same organization may also be limited

1st Session – Saturday 28th January 2023 – Valletta Volunteer Centre Melita Street Valletta

2nd Session – Saturday 18th February 2023 – Valletta Design Cluster – Bull Street Valletta

3rd Session – Saturday 25th February 2023 – Valletta Design Cluster – Bull Street Valletta.

  • The workshop sessions will include a welcome coffee, light lunch and coffee breaks for each of the 3 days.
  • A Certificate of attendance will be presented at the end of training to those participants who successfully complete the 3 sessions.
  • The Course will be delivered in Maltese with notes in English.

  5. How to match our capacity with the events we need or want to execute

  7. Finding your event location – Community impact & the right approach
  8. Funding & Pricing: Creating a Budget and running a sustainable event
  9. Partnerships & Sponsorships: Fundraising and alternative sources of funding
  10. Pitching your event
  11. HR for your event: Recruiting Volunteers and working with a hybrid team of professionals.
  12. Event Marketing & PR: reaching your audience, selling your tickets.
  13. Best practices – what worked and why

The course will be led by Ms Annalisa Schembri

Annalisa Schembri is a freelance professional in the creative, entertainment and education industry, coming from Malta but working across Europe.

She has been in the event management, event production and creative production industry for the last 16 years, producing and working on a variety of creative jobs ranging from theatre to film and live TV, contemporary dance, live concerts, festivals, musicals, conferences and live large-­‐ scale events.

Recently she has also been trained as a virtual and hybrid events producer and manager.

Annalisa is also an artistic director for festivals and live large scale events, a speaker, a soft skills trainer and a lecturer on, amongst other topics; Public speaking, debating, pitching, creative production, theatre works and collective co-creation.

She is also an SDG broker and the Global Youth Ambassador for Young Creative Leaders – a British social enterprise focused on providing international development opportunities to artists, entrepreneurs and youth leaders.

Annalisa is the co-­‐founder of WePitchIt.com a recent start-­‐up that brings together storytellers, creatives and the business community to create the best pitch for the next big presentation.

She is also the co-chair of the events committee within MEIA – the Malta Entertainment Industry and Arts Association.

Annalisa is also the Artistic Director of the APS Summer Festival, a yearly contemporary arts festival that is the enabler for the creation of beautiful artistic performances.

As an active citizen, she has served in leadership positions, developing young people in a number of different NGO’s including Kite Factory, a pan-European NGO, working on entrepreneurship in the creative economy and the arts, that she still leads as President and JCI – Junior Chamber International where she held various leadership positions on a European level, including chairing the 2017 European Development Council and being the European Partnerships Appointee for 2018 and 2019.

She was also sitting on the Conference Organisation Committee for the JCI 2020 European Conference in Dublin as a hands on advisor.

Currently Annalisa is the Director of the Conference Organising Academy in Estonia,the Chairperson for the JCI Malta Senate and was recently elected to the position of 2023 JCI Vice-President assigned to Europe.
